Dhurandhar (2025) Review

Dhurandhar by Aditya Dhar is the first Indian movie, in my opinion, that truly delivers on the spy-thriller genre. Set mostly in Afghanistan and Pakistan, the story unfolds through the eyes of an Indian spy sent to infiltrate Pakistan’s ISI and bring down their terror network and the attacks planned on India.

I got the opportunity to watch this scope-ratio film in a P[XL] laser venue, which seriously enhanced the whole experience.

More than a movie, it feels like a history lesson from an unusual angle. Instead of showing terror attacks from India’s point of view, the film shifts perspectives and lets us see how these events unfold from inside Pakistan. It shows what a spy goes through without censoring anything  it’s raw, gritty, and some scenes are genuinely hard to watch, matching the intensity of terrorism.

From IC-814 to the Mumbai attacks, the film covers major chapters of our history and how India managed to stop some plots while missing others.

The 3.5-hour runtime, divided into chapters, never felt too slow or too fast. It’s exactly the pace needed to understand the universe Aditya Dhar has created.

The film delivers on its storytelling, cinematography, and performances especially Ranveer Singh and Akshaye Khanna, who are fantastic in their roles.

I felt the music could have been better at times, and the climax could have carried a bit more impact. But I’m still excited for Part 2 releasing on 19 March 2026 , and overall, I’m happy with the time and money I spent.

Rating: 3.5/5

Did You Know?

  • The team consulted real retired intelligence officers to keep the film’s spy operations authentic.
  • Most of the terrain shots were filmed in high-altitude and desert locations to match the Afghanistan–Pakistan landscape.
  • The movie was later split into two parts during post-production with Part 2 scheduled for release on 19 March 2026  to properly explore the complex narrative without rushing the story.
  • The film uses a 2.39:1 scope ratio with mostly practical effects, giving it a raw, grounded visual style.

Note:

Dhurandhar  is a A rated movie with lot of brutal bloodshed and violent scenes .
