A tale of transformation, terror, and how storytelling itself can rewrite the soul
Siddharth plays Karthik, a struggling director who stumbles upon a rare chance to make a film with the condition that it must be gritty, violent, and real. To get it right, he decides to research the most feared gangster in town.
Enter Sethu, played with terrifying brilliance by Bobby Simha , a man so ruthless that his name alone sends shivers. But behind the madness lies a human spark, however faint.
As Karthik gets dangerously close to his subject, he finds himself caught in a web of violence and chaos and what unfolds is a transformation that’s as absurd as it is powerful.
The last 30–35 minutes are nothing short of cinematic magic. What could’ve been an ordinary gangster flick becomes a genre-bending rollercoaster that blends satire, violence, and a touch of Tarantino-esque madness.
Visually, it’s pure Karthik Subbaraj wide shots that linger, rain drenched streets, that unforgettable Red Mercedes wide shot, and those final gibberish moments that hit somewhere personal. The cinematography and direction work hand in hand to give us not just scenes, but memories.
But what lingers most is how cinema itself becomes a character shaping, breaking, and ultimately redeeming.
