Summit of mount renok (5030m)

If you’re planning to get into mountaineering or serious trekking, doing a proper mountaineering course is one of the best steps you can take.

When I first started exploring it, finding clear information wasn’t easy. Everything felt scattered and a bit confusing.

So, here’s a simple breakdown based on my experience things that will genuinely help if you’re planning to join a course.

What is BMC?

Basic Mountaineering Course (BMC) is a 28 days foundational course that teaches essential skills required for high altitude climbing.

It includes:

  • ice /snow craft
  • Rock Craft and sports climbing
  • Rope work
  • Basic survival techniques

The course involves intense training at altitudes up to 15,000 ft, so a good level of physical fitness is required.

Both theoretical and practical aspects of mountaineering are covered during the course.

Career options after BMC

After completing BMC, one can go for Advanced Mountaineering Course (AMC) and further specialize in mountaineering.

Some of the career paths include:

  • Trek leader and guide
  • Base camp manager
  • Expedition member
  • Adventure tourism operator (Start your own trekking company)
  • Corporate/Outdoor training & team building

Even if not taken as a career, BMC helps in building discipline, endurance, and mental strength which is useful in any field.

My Journey

Group Photo

I completed my Basic Mountaineering Course (BMC373) from Himalayan Mountaineering Institute in March 2026.

But the process started much earlier.

I applied in August 2025.

Got my confirmation mail around October.

So yeah you don’t apply and go immediately. There’s always a waiting period.

How the application process works

It’s actually simple.

But if you’re doing it for the first time, it can feel confusing.

For most institutes, the process is almost the same:

  • Go to the official website

  • Select BMC (Basic Mountaineering Course)

  • Choose an available slot

  • Upload documents

  • Pay the fees

That’s it.

Documents required

Nothing complicated.

  • ID proof

  • Medical certificate

The medical certificate is mandatory.

You can do the necessary tests and get the certificate from any nearby doctor. It Costed me between 2-3k for entire tests including doctor fees .

Waiting period

This is where most people get surprised.

Even after applying, you won’t get an immediate slot.

There’s always a waiting time.

As of 2026,waiting period of all institutes :

So if you’re planning, apply early.

In one line Marty Supreme is supremely brilliant.

It’s the story of a young man’s relentless pursuit of his goal, no matter the cost. The film is a complete Timothée Chalamet show and it wouldn’t be surprising at all if he walks away with an Oscar for this performance. He plays a young man obsessed with becoming the best in table tennis (ping pong) and every step of that journey feels raw and honest.

Every character in this film is toxic in their own way, yet deeply human, and that’s what makes it so special. The film is gritty, messy, and wonderful. Whatever Marty touches turns chaotic, yet he somehow finds a way to keep chasing his dream. It’s disturbing at times, inspiring at others. The final 20 minutes gave me pure goosebumps  I genuinely haven’t seen anything like this before. It breaks away from usual sports-drama clichés and digs into something far deeper.

Performances by Gwyneth Paltrow, Odessa A’zion, Kevin O’Leary, Tyler Okonma, Abel Ferrara, and Fran Drescher are outstanding and play a huge role in elevating the film to such a supreme level.

Technically, there isn’t much to complain about. Darius Khondji coming out of retirement to shoot this film is a win in itself. The cinematography is masterful, backed by excellent editing and sharp transitions by Bronstein and Benny. This film is likely to leave a lasting impact on the sports-drama genre and has a strong chance of becoming a classic over time.

All praises to Benny Safdie and Ronald Bronstein's screenplay it's chaotic ,it's magical ,it was pure cinema.

A must watch for every cinema lover, and one that deserves to be experienced on the big screen.

Note:

Marty supreme is a flat ratio movie best to be experienced in PXL venue near you .

The movie contains multiple sex scenes, nudity, and intense moments, making it strictly for adult audiences only.

My third theatre watch of 2026, and the first movie that truly made my time and money worth it. For starters, it’s a sports drama with WWE as the core theme, but what makes it unique is how the filmmakers have rooted WWE style action in a native Kerala setting and I’d say they’ve succeeded in that attempt.

The movie begins with the childhoods of the three protagonists Arjun Ashokan, Roshan Mathew, and Ishan Shoukath and uses WWE nostalgia beautifully. Many of us who grew up trying chokeslams or playing with WWE trump cards will instantly connect with those early moments.

For me, the second act (or the first half) lagged a bit. Even though it was necessary to build proper character arcs , I felt some scenes could have been trimmed to reach the core of the story faster. But once the film picks up in the latter part of the first half and moves into the second half, it delivers high-energy action sequences and great moments that bring out the WWE fan in you.

And the big M moment for me totally worked. My only complaint is that they could have made him do a bit more action.Still nothing much to complain seeing him in big screen with his new avatar was more than enough for me .

Visakh Nair  does a superb job in his role, and while all the protagonists shine, his presence stands out on the opposite side with strong energy.

Cinematography by Anend C. Chandran (cinematographer of premam) elevates the film to the next level, backed by sharp editing and a compelling sound design and background score by Mujeeb Majeed.

For me, it was worth the watch and worth the time spent.

Note:
The movie uses a flat aspect ratio, best to be experienced in PXL venue and doesn’t rely on gore or adult content. It’s a great watch for both 90s kids and the new generation alike.

Dhurandhar by Aditya Dhar is the first Indian movie, in my opinion, that truly delivers on the spy-thriller genre. Set mostly in Afghanistan and Pakistan, the story unfolds through the eyes of an Indian spy sent to infiltrate Pakistan’s ISI and bring down their terror network and the attacks planned on India.

I got the opportunity to watch this scope-ratio film in a P[XL] laser venue, which seriously enhanced the whole experience.

More than a movie, it feels like a history lesson from an unusual angle. Instead of showing terror attacks from India’s point of view, the film shifts perspectives and lets us see how these events unfold from inside Pakistan. It shows what a spy goes through without censoring anything  it’s raw, gritty, and some scenes are genuinely hard to watch, matching the intensity of terrorism.

From IC-814 to the Mumbai attacks, the film covers major chapters of our history and how India managed to stop some plots while missing others.

The 3.5-hour runtime, divided into chapters, never felt too slow or too fast. It’s exactly the pace needed to understand the universe Aditya Dhar has created.

The film delivers on its storytelling, cinematography, and performances especially Ranveer Singh and Akshaye Khanna, who are fantastic in their roles.

I felt the music could have been better at times, and the climax could have carried a bit more impact. But I’m still excited for Part 2 releasing on 19 March 2026 , and overall, I’m happy with the time and money I spent.

Rating: 3.5/5

Did You Know?

  • The team consulted real retired intelligence officers to keep the film’s spy operations authentic.
  • Most of the terrain shots were filmed in high-altitude and desert locations to match the Afghanistan–Pakistan landscape.
  • The movie was later split into two parts during post-production with Part 2 scheduled for release on 19 March 2026  to properly explore the complex narrative without rushing the story.
  • The film uses a 2.39:1 scope ratio with mostly practical effects, giving it a raw, grounded visual style.

Note:

Dhurandhar  is a A rated movie with lot of brutal bloodshed and violent scenes .
